What is the Boston-Haifa Science Fair?

The Boston-Haifa Science Fair is a newly designed collaborative multidisciplinary science research project. The scientific collaboration between schools in the Boston area and schools in Israel was established six years ago. In the past three years the science fair became a true collaborative effort of the students, their mentors and several academic institutes in Boston and in Israel. The project has the following goals:

  1. To provide the students with scientific research skills (including the independent design of a scientific study, data analysis, writing and oral communication of the study.)
  2. To introduce the students to multidisciplinary science and integrate it with math.
  3. To familiarize the students with “real life” science through their work with scientists.
  4. To promote collaborative learning outside the borders of the traditional classroom.

The collaborative project has gained support from scientists from the following institutes: MIT, Tel Aviv University, Technion, Ben-Gurion University and Harvard Medical School. The support is translated into providing the students and their mentors with resources for their research projects, interacting with the students throughout the year and, finally, attending the science fair.
